Champagne Michel Fagot

Champagne Michel Fagot has me musing.

Is my palate more sophisticated than I thought it was?

Has my taste simply been a victim of poor quality?

Michel Fagot has a deep legacy of producing quality Champagne in Rilly-la-Montagne, France on 15 hectares of vineyards.

The amount of people needed to handpick those vines is insanity. That’s a lot of grapes, Champagne, and time! True dedication to one’s craft is at work here.

My Vintage Tour Company took us through the Michel Fagot facilities in vintage cars. Only adding to the serene ambiance and moral of the day.

Their knowledge of the process from vine to bottle was truly impressive. I had no idea so much work went into this bubbly beverage.

I have a new appreciation for what goes into making one bottle of Champagne, let alone millions.

Taking in the endless, windy December vineyards, I was ready to take my first sip of Michel Fagot.

With this vibe, I knew the tasting was going to be top tier. What I didn’t expect was my palate to flip on itself.

I have always gravitated towards sweeter drinks back home.

In the heart of French Champagne country, my Brut glass was empty.

Brut Champagne has a lower sugar content. Making it less sweet.

Out the 4 Michel Fagot tastings, I preferred the driest Champagne.

Wild right?

This speaks to the quality and traditions put into every bottle at Champagne Michel Fagot. A rich history.

Something you can’t recreate anywhere else.
