Palais Garnier – Paris, France

I’d erased the Palais Garnier from my Paris wishlist. The historic opera house ended up being my favorite site I saw in the city.

The Palais Garnier is a masterpiece of 19th century French architecture. Every inch of the opulent structure is a feast for the eyes. Like being in the center of a decadent cake with the richest chocolate ganache.

I was in awe of a building that was art itself. It felt like the walls could spill so many secrets of French society. I could feel the drama seeping through the cracks. Both from on and off the stage.

My favorite section had painted angels framed in the most exquisite gold trim ceiling. Chandeliers and neoclassical columns lined the room, drawing my eyes up.

I had never seen anything so aristocratic and grand. Built for society at its highest. They don’t make things like this anymore.
