My slow morning consisted of coffee and bites at Sood. The speciality coffee shop was packed and rightfully so. With strong and rich coffee, one sip packed a yummy punch. The aesthetic ceramic mugs provided that cherry on top. Their bites were actual sustenance too! I hate when I go to a cafe, and all I can eat is a croissant.
After coffee, I paid an afternoon visit to the Palacio Real de Madrid. Definitely recommend arriving at the royal palace early and purchasing a ticket in advance to avoid long wait times. Plan on spending a minimum of 2 hours exploring the historical, lavish interior. My favorite feature was the classical ceiling paintings that adorned almost every room.
After you’ve wandered the palace, stop by Tiramisu Merisu for a delicate, caffeinated dessert.
If the Palacio Real de Madrid doesn’t suit your fancy, you can also visit the Museo Nacional del Prado. Again, definitely get those tickets in advance. The lines were lengthy before the museum opened at 10am. Once inside, the 12th to around 19th century Spanish paintings were so fun to get lost in. I’d plan a minimum of 2.5 hours here at a brisk pace. Oh, and no photos.
After you have satisfied your artistic sweet tooth at the Prado, caffeinate up at with the robust flavors of Osom Coffee just a short walk away.
For dinner, I’d suggest sangria and tapas hopping with friends. There is no shortage of options to choose from.
