Corner Coffee and Cardiff Castle: Cardiff, Wales

In crisp, chilly air, Cardiff Castle stood at the opposite end of my early stroll. I appreciated the calmer nature of Cardiff this morning. My slow wandering through the historic town provided a needed rest from the fast-paced nature of bigger cities. An intentional reset to a sustainable pace is required now and again … especially when recovering from being sick (iykyk). Glancing towards the medieval architecture, I chose to pause my morning stroll at Corner Coffee to give myself a break.

Space

On the outer corner of an arcade, Corner Coffee’s turquoise accents caught my attention. The color and natural lighting made the small space feel bright and inviting. Tight knit and lively, their local community was constantly engaged in conversation. Seated indoor or out, everyone seemed to know someone who knows someone.

My Order

Absorbing a barista hand weigh some beans, the speedy arrival of my flat white startled me out of my ASMR-like trance. I took a sip from my turquoise mug, and the specialty coffee brought me the warm comfort I needed mid stroll.

Their brunch menu, available until 13:30 when I visited, impressed me with its healthy and inclusive options. The Dark Chocolate Breakfast Bowl in particular stood out to me. I’m always a sucker for quinoa. I was disappointed I didn’t have much of an appetite, because everything on the menu looked delicious! Including the pastries!

The free water kept me hydrated while I finished my coffee and people-watched. Paying for water has always been a strange concept to me.

Rejuvenated, I resumed my stroll to Cardiff Castle. Corner Coffee gave me that post-sick energy boost I needed to continue my wanderings, in both caffeine and spirit.

As their motto says:

good coffee & new adventures
