Throughout my time in Spain, I was able to fully relax into a “work to live” mindset. With scheduled breaks and sunshine together, a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I felt lighter as I started my morning midday.
Sood
Sipping from a ceramic mug, my flat white packed a punch. Strong and rich, the specialty blend made it obvious why the small cafe was popular. The sophisticated notes filled the space with a delicious aroma. Surrounded by chatter and expertise, it was easy to see why the brand was well-loved by locals. Fresh, light fare and pastry were also available if wanted.

Palacio Real de Madrid
I had to bend my neck completely backwards to get a better view of the clouds painted on the ceiling. The gold accents and elegant trim work made the religious image impossibly more grand. The intricate detailing in every room was immaculate. For example, the precise designs sewn into the fabric wallpapers made each room unique. The palace seemed to make a statement of importance and influence at every crevice. Luxury at every turn.
Built in the 18th century, the palace was a symbol of the wealth of the Spanish monarchy. The Classicist and Baroque architecture showcased the development of the structure throughout the Enlightenment.
I recommend booking a ticket in advance to avoid lengthy lines. Plan a minimum of two hours here. It felt like the rooms would just keep going!
Restaurante Triana
The red sangria was so sweet and delicious it tasted like candy. Sharing tapas with my friend, we easily devoured the delectable treat in our glasses. As our sangria swished, we stuffed ourselves with steaming croquetas. Chatting away, our plate of Iberian ham disappeared, complimenting the sangria with its salty flavor. My favorite, the eggplant, was absolutely divine and gone in a millisecond.
Classy and refined, the space and menu brought me into an upscale experience. Tons of seating was available, both indoors and on the outdoor terrace. Vibrant and lively, the atmosphere spoke for itself. The gluten-free restaurant was a popular place to unwind and dine with friends.
